Neal and Debra Dupar both grew up in the Lower 9th Ward; Neal on Reynes Street and Debra on Gordon Street. Hurricane Katrina ripped through the Gulf Coast in 2005 and forced them to relocate near Alexandria. Three years following the catastrophe, Neal and Debra Dupar and their five children want to get back home to the Lower 9th Ward.

Clayton Evans, 56, grew up on St. Maurice Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward. Mr. Evans, who works for an engineering firm doing computer graphics, is also a musician who plays guitar, bas and keyboards in bands and as a volunteer in his church.

Antonia Cager has a warm affection for the Lower 9th Ward; she and her entire family were raised in the area. According to Ms. Cager, their family has lived in the area so long that her mother’s father owned one of the first homes on Deslonde Street.
