Coming Home

The Homeowner Process

2.
Qualifying
To qualify, you or someone in your immediate family had to live in the Lower 9th Ward when Katrina hit. You also have to be buyer-ready, meaning you can contribute to the cost of buying your home - either through savings or financing and can afford to maintain the house, pay taxes and insurance. All housing costs are limited to no more than one third of your income. Click here to get started.
3.
Counseling
If you don't qualify financially, we offer in-house counseling, financial literacy and other educational workshops. Our counselors will help you coordinate your resources, improve your credit rating, and apply for third-party or Make It Right loans.
4.
Construction
Once a sales agreement is signed, you will finalize your lot and design selection. Construction usually takes between four and six months.
5.
Closing
When the home is finished and a certificate of occupancy is obtained, the family closes on the house and gets the keys to their new home.

Homeowners can move home again by following Make It Right’s Road Home. Contact us now.
