Make It Right has unpaid internships available on the following teams:
- Communications (one internship)
- Construction (one internship)
Internships require a regular commitment of time spent each week (as determined by you and the Director of your team) devoted to your work at Make It Right. Unpaid internships last 12 weeks, unless the Director of your team agrees to an alternate time.
COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Make It Right seeks an unpaid intern to work with the Communications team on a variety of work, including social media, marketing and multi-media efforts. We are a small team working on a lot of interesting projects so you will have the opportunity to pitch in often and learn a lot. Among the items you will regularly help with are: creating content for our blog, online forum, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest activity; assisting on a variety of film and photography shoots; and assisting with and sometimes leading on graphic design work. Intern candidates must have their own transportation and be able to spend approximately 15-20 hours a week working on-site in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward and working remotely.
Experience & Skills Required
- Strong writing ability - your writing should convey both emotion and accurate information in a clear and direct way
- Social media prowess - identifying and creating compelling content for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest should be second nature
- Ability to work independently on assigned projects
- Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom and Final Cut
Additional skills
You should have one or more of the following skills:
- Graphic design experience using the Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with DSLR photography, post editing and tagging photos for archiving
- Experience with HD film recording, cataloguing footage and post editing with Final Cut Pro and/or Final Cut Express

CONSTRUCTION INTERN
Make It Right seeks an unpaid intern to work with the Construction team. The Construction intern will assist with construction material research, ordering and inventory. You will also assist the site agent with daily site inspections, quality assurance and customer service issues. Intern candidates must have their own transportation and be able to spend approximately 20 hours a week on-site in the Make It Right neighborhood in the Lower 9th Ward.
Experience & Skills Required
- We will give preference to second-year (or higher) college students studying Construction Management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project
- Prefer previous experience on a construction site, but not required
